Our daughter loves this book and constantly uses it for casual practice. She says it is the best one she has found to just pick up and use whenever she has a few spare minutes.

Great pieces, this is the second book of the same that I buy, the previous one was several years old and "misplaced". The level of the pieces is par to the level of the book. Recommended.

This piano book was just what my daughter needed. The copyright (1999) was a lot older than what I expected. It has classical pieces in large print making it easy to read.

These have the most imaginative designs I've been able to find. I've purchased other brands are these are much more imaginative, unique, and fun, whimsical. Highly recommend!

 My husband and I have started using Adult Coloring Books as a way to de-stress. I know that many crafts use the same part of the brain that one uses in meditation, so I wasn't surprised to read that many other adults were turning to coloring. I have bought several different types of books and I find that I like a lot of the ones by Creative Haven/Dover. I have found that my non-alcohol based markers and my gel pens all leak through this brand of book, so I am sure to place paper between the pages to keep the pages behind fresh and clean. I've found that freezer paper works really well for this purpose.The pages of the book are single-sided and are perforated at the bound edge so you can remove the page to color or to frame afterwards. The pages are a bright white and have a decent pound weight - they are not flimsy.This is the second Creative Haven book by Marjorie Sarnat (her first has been one of my favorite - Cats.) This book of Owls is now tied for for my top honors. There are 31 images to color (if you don't include the small faceplate on the title page.) The images have a wide range, including: an owl sitting on a wildly decorated crescent moon, an owl with butterflies, a "smart" owl amongst his/her books, owls on a wooden rocking horse, pirate owls, fairy tale owl, totem pole owls, steampunk owl, the owl and the pussycat (yes, cat included!) and many, many more.These illustrations are so lovely, I plan to do each and every one of them. I love that the Ms. Sarnat has used such wild colors in her artwork - I plan to color these with just that kind of abandon.

This is a really cute and charming coloring book perfect for owl aficionados and colorists who like quirky pictures. This reminds me of a mash up of one of Johanna Basford's books and Amy Weber's Curious Creatures. I plan to color with Staedtler fibre tips and Fineliners, as well as colored pencils.As always with Creative Haven coloring books, the pages are single sided and perforated, and will need a paper buffer between pages when using markers.

This is a great gift for an owl lover and perfect for yourself if you like to get lost in intricate coloring pages. I've used Sharpie Ultra-points with great results. Will buy many more copies of this coloring book!

Will color the pages and by frames to decorate my kitchen, because I have all kind of owls as of now in my kitchen .I love Owls and chickens in my kitchen, so I pick up odds and ends.

Coloring hobbyists who loved Creative Cats, will have more fun with Ms. Sarnat's Owls. The art is fun on each themed page. The pages are perforated & the paper quality is excellent, able to hold up to water based markers & gel pens, as well as alcohol markers. Hours of coloring fun, each page is more interesting than the next. These Owls are so cute, you will want to frame your finished pictures!

So far so good. This is my first adult coloring book and I used RoseArt colored pencils to color the first few pages. It does get tiring after a little while and my writing hand hurts a little, but you can always take a break and start again where you left off.I like how there is a wide variety of shapes to color. It's a one-sided page coloring book as well so you don't have to worry about ruining a drawing at the back of the page you are coloring. I don't know if I can say the same when using markers to color or anything other than pencils.So far, I'm pretty happy with the purchase. It entertains me when I need to destress and I am always excited to color them. I'm not good at coloring or choosing a nice, coordinated palette but it does its job of taking my mind away somewhere else for a little bit while I am coloring.

A marriage made in Creative Haven!As in another, more detailed review (see Magnificent Mehndi Designs from Creative Haven) these images were created with adults in mind; fine motor skills are a must because there are a lot of small to very small spaces to fill. What makes coloring so stress reducing for me - I have to concentrate on detail on the page and not a lot about anything else - ahh...relaxation for the mind.I use colored pencils, the paper it is printed on is not that thick for watercolors so I don't suggest that, but each page has only one image on one side and the page is perforated so that it can be torn out and colored separately. Crayons, pens, markers and pastels could also be used to color these very detailed pictures. Remember when playing was fun? It's back!An talented artist created these brand new images and Dover Books has struck gold with me in the modestly priced Creative Haven series.Imagine if DaVinci's sketches were available to color..how many more people would have been inspired to be creative and artistic!

The preview is spot on. I bought this book because I thought I would read it and I do. It's interesting because the element's description is 1-2 pages. It's short enough where you don't feel like you're reading a dull textbook. It's more similar to snippets from from a magazine summary. The colors pop on the pictures and cover. It's a likable and pretty book in person. I bought the hard copy because I saw this book at a store and I knew that I would love having this to flip through the pretty pictures or re-read a page here and there.

My 7 yo son is obsessed with the periodic table. He's memorized it in large part because of this book. While this is clearly meant for an adult audience, I am able to translate the text easily for my son. The pictures are wonderful. It is a great gift for any science lover or enthusiast hoping to learn more about the periodic table.

Love this book! Brought it to work and my fellow chemist immediately went on and ordered one. Big hit. Pictures are cool along with the awesome descriptions and/or history.

The book contains “witty illustrations by Ron Hill.” The Kindle edition does not include those illustrations! So you only get “half the book,” so to speak. Hence, I cannot give the Kindle edition more than 3 stars, despite the excellent text content! The individual volumes of the Armchair Theologians series all contain illustrations by said Ron Hill. They are integral to the texts. Why they are not included in the Kindle editions is beyond comprehension or excuse.

Enjoyed reading the book and becoming familiar with the concept of Liberation Theology. As Christians I am just always amazed how we separate ourselves from other Christians of different Countries, and write in favor of our own ethnicity (Latino) as I thought was emphasized here. That was a damper for me, because all races have experienced injustices in the past. The US is full of down trotted Immigrants. I am one of them. Europe was invaded and forced into Christianity by the Romans, just as the Indians were by the Spanish European Conquerors etc. It always amazes me that some would or could conceive in a justice of past historic events, two hundred or of a thousand years ago. It reasons to me more of a perpetuation or a revenge cycle masked as Justice (alas, and eye for an eye). What happens when your not being able to repair or do justice to past historic events, (which I think is not possible no matter the amount of money or aid one pays or on to war) but repents, learns from the sufferings, does not repeat it, forgives one another as God has forgiven us, and remember that no Nation is greater or incapable of meting out horrific and cruel injustices when their survival is threatened. The book was a good read, and his knowledge of political events amazing, (learned a lot), but it left me with little realistic steps to reconcile the past with the present. For me it is an offering of a "wanting justice", of wrongs committed by others from the political and economical business arena/spectrum of the past and present, but no reconcilable new beginnings or systems. The Theology of HOPELESSNESS is not the beginning or the end for me, but the recognition that a change in attitude and thinking, knowledge and perception of the "other" unknown, as well as dialogue is needed.

A very good read! I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in liberation theology and justice for people who live in the margins.

Good read

As an historian of theology, I was interested to familiarize myself more with the modern concept of Liberation Theology. Unfortunately this book left much to be desired. Unlike the others in the series, it was written with a strong bias that came through in every page. It isn't an historical work as much as a polemical one, and it's difficult to get through the bog of presumptions, assumptions, and preferential tilt. I like the Armchair Theologian series, but I fear they chose the wrong author for this subject. I prefer my history without inclination, prejudice, or an agenda, and this book proffered all three with undesired generosity. If you're already a fan of Liberation Theology and are looking for a book to regurgitate your talking points, this is it. If you're looking for an historical introduction to Liberation Theology, look elsewhere.
