The book is rich with monsters, character, armor and weapon designs. It also has many descriptions of the MH world, including and not limited to information on items, monsters, armors, and villagers. Tons of sketches, a nice amount of completed illustrations and a black-and-white sketch section at the back. They even include game graphics and some cute, silly MH-based illustrations. It is anime-style drawing--I say this because I saw artbooks be downrated just because the viewer didn't like the drawing style, which I find illogical.A great reference book for creatures, weapons, and armor.

If you are expecting to see monsters like Zinogre or Seregios, you will not see them here. This book only has details from the first two generations, and most illustrations are of developmental. Something buyers need to keep in mind.-----------------------------------------------------To get the negative out of the way first, there are some flaws with this book. The most obvious is that it is clear the translator has not play the game before, resulting in some canonical inconsistencies. For example, Rathalos was referred as "Wyvern" in one caption, but on another, he was referred by his proper english name. The most noticable ones are Steel Dragon (Kushala Daora) and Blaze King Draong (Teostra). Technically, the translation is not wrong as they correspond with their japanese name. Bu it can be misleading to people who purchase this book for the appreciation of the game's aethetic and have not played the game before. In addition, there are too few name labels on the monsters. Readers will have to flip to the index to check monsters' name, even thought there are enough room for just a short text box. This is just a minor inconvenience, but something worth bringing up. And finally, some monsters' picture entries are a bit lacking. I do not recall there being a single image of Rathian at all, neither are there Fatalis (even though it's emblem is on the front cover!). Instead of having in depth sketches of monster that appear in the game, this book focuses more on behind the scene development. Almost 45% of monster images are prototypes that did not make it into the final game. So if you are expecting to see detail break downs of you favorite monsters, you may be dissapointed. To the positives, there are plenty praises for this book. It is jampacked with detailed development notes from the creators. There are so many awesome illustrations to enjoy that I might even consider the pages of costume designs overshine the monsters. Ranging from prototype armors, to weapons, NPCs, and items! One thing that is especially interesting is that Capcom seems to put a surprisingly amount of effort on designing Shakalaka goblins; consider how they do not make often appearance in most games. In overall, this is a good art book documenting what is behind the development of Monster Hunter games. I almost want to say it is awesome, if it were not for how unorganized some of the pages are and the lack of monster rosters. The index mentioned Rathian and Yian Garuga's weapons were shown in the weapon page, but there were not a single image of them! Regardless, this is still an art book that I recommend. Especially when it's listed retail price is 44.99 USD!! Amazon is selling it for 20 USD!? You are getting it for a steal!!!

You don't have to be a fan of Monster Hunter to enjoy this book. The artwork is great! The concept art is very detailed and there are explanations on the team's creative process. The team members explain how they created the world and how every piece of armor and equipment comes from that world. There are sections on the monsters, the characters and their armor, the NPC's, the Weaponry, Icons, Promotional Art, and Sketches.Definitely pick it up if:You're a fan of the Monster Hunter Series. You collect video game art books (this is one of the better ones and it's 300 pages.)You like cool monster designs (and you like things like D&D Monster Manuals). You like cool armor / weapon designs. You're interested in the creative process that the pros in the film or game industry use.You need Monster / Knight art references. It's Great!

This book, as the first one, is simply fantastic. Not only does it show amazing artwork from the games but also lets the artist explain some of their thought process on certain topics. Every now and then you will find comments on why they did certain things that way. This book has quite a few of those inside actually. Both books are an absolute treasure chest for any MH fan, especially for the price. I recognised a large amount of items, characters and monsters in this book.

Just received my copy of this absolutely awesome Game Development Art book, and I'm quite pleased with the visual quality and variety of the creature and character designs featured in this massive tome. Flipping through its pages should provide hours of enjoyment and many examples of how the talented artists went about the process of creating the world and fantastical inhabitants of the Capcom game "Monster Hunter" (which I have never seen nor played). While I really appreciate the opportunity of reading the text of this book originally published in Japanese, I have to agree with my fellow reviewer that the numerous spelling and editing errors detract some from what could have been a flawless experience. Highly recommended reference book for anybody interested in creating their own monster creatures and fantasy warriors despite its lack of proper proof-reading.

This is an awesome art book full of great illustrations showing the talent of the art team at capcom.

Wow. Absolutely beautiful! If you are thinking of buying this... do it! Well worth the money. I brought this as a gift for my autistic son who’s obsessed with MHW. And this didn’t disappoint!

I bought this as a gift. It is the best one of the artwork books I've ever bought/seen. It really is fantastic and well worth the price. There is just so much in here!
