You can write a personal message on the reverse, blank side. They come packed in a sturdy, portable lidded box. 44 Biblically Inspired Coloring Cards4 1/4 x 3 1/4 InchOne-Side Printed Extra-Heavy Card StockSturdy, Portable Lidded Box(Not Size Suitable as Postcard Mailing)
My 84-year old mother loves to color so I bought her these little cards as something different to do. She loves them and has colored many of them to give to friends for their birthday, anniversary or just to be kind. They are small and easy to color. This is a great idea for anyone because not only are they fun to color but a blessing to give.
I ordered both this and the companion set from this publisher (“Creative Expressionsâ€) and I didn't pay close enough attention when I was placing my order for these cards. I thought that I would be receiving note cards but as it turns out, these are single sided, heavyweight and slightly larger than business cards. There are 44 different designs in the cards. My recent purchases from this publisher had led me to expect only a few with Biblical reference but it turns out that there are 32 cards with actual scriptural cites on them. There are an additional seven which deal with God or other religious connotations. Finally, there are five general feel-good cards. I was surprised in a very good and happy way to see a larger focus on both Old and New Testament verses. The cards are 4.25 x 3.25 inches. Most have the designs printed horizontally on the card (29 of them) with an additional 15 vertical designs. The card stock weight is very good and heavy. The front of the cards have a good tooth feel for good coverage for coloring pencils. The back of the card has a glossy finish that feels as if there is some type of coating on it.I have been pondering how to use these cards and have decided I really like them as cards versus note cards. I can always mount them on blank cards if I wish to use them that way (as I do when I make cards with rubber stamp techniques.) They are also item to have on hand when our church home group meets at our house. It will be a fun way to take a break or to end the evening. The designs are printed fairly small and I found that using my ultra-fine markers, smaller nib gel pens, and hard lead coloring pencils worked the best for me. Some of the cards have tiny areas to color but that is to be expected with such a small coloring area.None of of my coloring medium bled through this paper. Not even the alcohol-based markers had a color shadow which makes it some of the best coloring card stock I have used. It is a really heavyweight and will stand up to being carried around for an on the go project. My coloring pencils worked well but there wasn't really enough surface to do much with blending; however, when I tested them, the soft lead pencils did blend well. In the comments section below, I will list the coloring medium I used to test these cards.
I love these and I have a lot of fun coloring them BUT...as you can see, I took a picture so you can compare the size of some leaves to the size of a regular color pencil tip.To be honest, some parts are very hard to color.
I love to color with my daughter and a close friend of mine (adult coloring). Her and I love to exchange coloring books and small gifts occasionally, so when I saw these cards, I had to get them for her. I received them very very quickly, and I happily opened them up to check them out. They all had wonderful positive messages of love, friendship, and hope. I loved them so much, I immediately ordered myself a set. I gave them to her the next day, and she loved them so much she got a bit tearful. I wanted a set for myself so I could color them and then mail (snail mail!) to family and friends to let them know that I'm thinking of them and that although we are apart in distance, they are always in my head and heart. As for a description of the cards, they are approximately 3x5 cards (actually a tiny bit smaller, maybe 3x4inch?) and they are made of thick card stock (thicker than index cards). The side with the blessing to be colored stands up to coloring pencils or gel ink and the opposite side is blank (to write a personal message? that's what I did) however it is coated in a gloss and it did smear a little when I didn't let it dry enough. Some Examples of the Blessings: "You are God's masterpiece. Ephesians 2:10" "Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:8" "You are precious to God." "The Lord bless you and keep you. Numbers 6:24" "A happy heart makes the face cheerful. Proverbs 15:13" "God is love. 1 John 4:8""You are one of God's best creations!" "You fill my life with joyful moments." "In my heart, I'm holding you tight." "The Lord will hold you in His hand -- a splendid crown in the hand of God. Isaiah 62:3" "May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 115:15"These Colorful Blessings cards are a great gift or just a happy reminder of bible verses and the Lord's love.
These are a great idea. After coloring them, they serve another purpose. Most people enjoy receiving something that people have put time and effort into. These are a great way to show someone that you are thinking of them and that you care, all while sending a meaningful message as well. I colored at ease with both colored pencils and gel pens on them. They are constructed with a nice heavy card stock and have very pretty designs. I may have to order more after I color them and send all of these out to friends and family.
The cards are very small, which is okay if you're expecting it. I thought they'd be nice to put in with cards or letters or gifts. However, the paper doesn't seem coloring friendly. My gel pins won't dry and have smeared all over. Seems too glossy for colored pencils to work well. Pretty disappointed as I ruined the first card I started coloring by touching it several minutes after the first color was done.
