As I perused through a copy of Easy Homemade Cookie Cookbook. I couldn’t help but think the last thing I needed was another baking book. I admit, I love cookbooks and am the proud and happy owner of way too many of them. But as space in my bookshelf grows scarce I have been forced to be much more selective as to which books I get and keep. I received a copy of Miranda Couse’s book from the publisher and took a quick cursory look through the book. Nice front section on essentials and ingredients and how-tos. The cookies are organized by types drops, classics, bars, slice and bake. There are tips and variations for many of the recipes interspersed throughout the book, really nice. Each page is very user friendly with the ingredients and quantities listed on the left and instructions on the right. Each recipe has a highlighted box at the beginning with baking temp, how many cookies and shelf life, love that. There are photos every couple of pages but not one for each cookie. The photos she does have are staged well and close-ups so you can really tell what the cookie should look like. Nicely done, wish there were more.I tried two recipes, the Blueberry Lemon Shortbread and Coffee Cheesecake Swirled Brownie. Both were straightforward and easy to make, especially the shortbread. The cookie is buttery, tender, very lemony which really creates a nice contrast with the blueberries. Dried blueberries are used which I think intensifies the flavor. Really delicious cokie. The brownies were a bit more effort with the 2 batters but worth it. This is a decadent brownie. The creamy sweet cheesecake swirls surrounded by a dense chocolate brownie. The sweetness is tempered by the hit of espresso powder. Next time I might add chocolate chips to the brownie batter to amp up chocolate. A big hit with friends. I definitely plan on trying more recipes. Despite having a zillion cookie books, I am definitely keeping this book. It is easy, straight forward, well organized and the recipes work. It would be the perfect gift for novice bakers and cookie lovers.
So, I’ve only tried the old fashioned chocolate chip cookie recipe out of this book so far and they are the best cookies I’ve ever made and definitely in the top 3 I’ve ever tried from bakeries/professionals.They are so darn good that I can’t seem to move past this recipe - like about 10 batches good and now I’m baking them because I’m getting requests from family members to bake them & visit. Lol.
I have the kindle version of this book. I do wish I could figure out how to print my favorites, but I have found several new recipes in here that have turned out AMAZING! My favorite so far is the Apple-Cinnamon cookies.
I gave this cookbook as a gift and when I got a box of cookies in the mail, i could not have been happier with that decision. The cookies were delicious and my friend said she has already made 1/4 of the cookies because they are so tasty and the instructions are so clear.
This book has so many recipes, I got overly excited when I received it. I know it will be a go-to for me as it has your basics and some more unique/fun recipes in there as well! My only complaint (which is small one) is that I wish there were more pictures in the book. Don't get me wrong, there are some pictures thrown in throughout the book, along with some step by step pictures which are really helpful. Most of the time I just like having a visual reference of what my end result will be. BUT on the bright side of that, maybe I won't be so critical of myself now whenever my cookie doesn't turn out just like the picture. Overall, I would recommend this, especially if you are a beginner baker like myself. There are a lot of helpful baking tools in this book, and I am sure I am going to learn a lot!
Beautiful cookbook! I discovered Miranda on Instagram and just love her posts and recipes. I was so happy when I found out she was coming out with a cookbook! The recipes are clear and simple and very delicious.
I have tried two recipes thus far from the book. And I must admit they were awesome my customers and family could get enough...I would have loved to see a little more pics but that does not take away from the quality of the end product
I bought this Kindle cookbook because it is my aim to try baking now. The recipes were very very clear and easy to understand. The recipes alone made my mouth water! This fear woman even had color photos for many recipes. You will not be disappointed in buying this treasure trove of sweet enjoyment. Very very worth the money spent!
