Sold is another great read by Loki Renard. I like this book so much in fact that I bought it after being given an advanced reader copy so I could have a permanent copy for my library.Trissa is a “wild thing†who has been living alone, trying to stay away from a civilization where females are rare and enslaved. Her journey from loneliness to love is a fascinating one.I have been a fan of Loki Renard since I read my first book written by her. She never disappoints and this book is another in a long line of successes. I highly recommend this read!
This was not good. It's short, rushed, and not developed.
I usually enjoy all Loki Renard's books aside from a random few that were a little too over the top for my taste but this one I just did not like at all...First off I was very confused through a good bit of the book with the way the character named her Mercinaries with Nick names but then every so often would use their real names it just kept throwing me off had me very confused. Second in the description it says she's sold off to 7 Mercs but in the book we start off with 8 not to mention this Daddy figure who's care she is put in while being prepped to be auctioned off. She is attracted to daddy figure, the mercs, I'm counting off on my fingers thinking dang this girl is a horn dog LoL but anyways after she kills the Sherriff the guys try to calm the people by publicly humiliating her by deflowering her infront of all the people and then the next night the city is attacked and only 3 of her Mercs make it back to her Tore the 4th one that made it back dies in her arms and that really sucked for me it was sweet the way she wrote it with him saying to her he was her first and that it was worth it right before he dies but it was still very sad because she went from 8 Hardcore Mercs that were very sweet in their own way to just 3 all the others were killed keeping her safe and then she finds out she's pregnant by Tore the one who took her Virginity and she's determined to give her child a better life so in order to do that she wants her men to take back the city and when they refuse she decides she will go to the city they will follow and it will all work out. However when she gets to the city it wasn't in anyway what she was expecting and while she was digging through the newest kings trunks looking for money she gets nabbed by said king who turns out to be "Daddy" dearest the one she thought had died with her other men. He informs her he is now king and that she is now his and her and the other 3 Mercs stay with him and that's pretty much how it ended. I don't know why but this book was just too depressing for me I don't expect all my books to be bright shiny and rainbows and unicorns but dang to go from having 8 hot guys to 4 that's a lot of death for me

I don't know how this author does it, but every book that she writes is 100% unique. With her enormous backlist, one night think it would be impossible to be that creative over and over again. Don't make that assumption! This is a reverse harem book, and goodness knows how many of those books I've read in the last year. Not one of them resembled this funny dystopian take with a wildly likable cast of characters.We learn quickly that the book takes place "post-event" after war devastated the United States and caused a new world order. A vaccine wrecked DNA and caused widespread death and destruction. Women are covered for procreation and child bearing. After being caught and discovered as a female, Trissa is auctioned to the highest bidder and prepared for her new life. You think you've seen this synopsis before? This is definitely different and cliche free.Trissa is what they call a wild girl, growing up outside the walls of the nearby city, and she's woefully uneducated on many things that lead to laugh out loud moments. She was taught by her father before he died about certain curse words, and I won't spoil it here, but they aren't your typical curses. She is a strong female, and she does something outrageous that changes everything.The book dives into politics that might sound a bit familiar to those of us in the USA right now, albeit they are worse in the story. The thought of a vaccine causing war is very plausible, rooting this scifi story in an honest plausibility. The sex scenes are creative and hot, but don't overwhelm the story. You might say huh when I tell you there's an HEA. But it's there, unconventional and just as special as these characters are.
