These paper dolls are beautiful, but they are not the punch out type. They will have to be cut out by hand. I am planning on using an x-acto knife. They are very elaborate and will be a tough job for an adult. I hope my granddaughter appreciates the effort.

I bought this book at the suggestion of a friend. I've read many historical and fictional books about the Old West and settlers, and many other about Native Americans (I am Cherokee). I realize this was a fictional journal before I started reading, and thought the concept was interesting - a sort of mail-order bride goes to live among the Cheyenne as a cultural ambassador.I did enjoy the descriptions of the prairie, daily life among the Cheyenne, and the sisterhood that formed among the other brides and the main character. What I didn't enjoy was the stereotypes of the characters. The women were all ethnic cliches: the large, lumbering Swiss woman; the African warrior princess; the haughty, racist Southern belle; the lesbian muleskinner; the redheaded, Irish criminal twins; etc. The main character, May Dodd, was tall, beautiful, smart, determined, strong, unflappable, supportive, a natural leader, and basically unbelievably perfect. She has a brief fling with a handsome, influential Army officer, then marries the chief of the village. The one character I really did like and find believable was the Catholic priest who lived in the village.She and her fellow brides run roughshod over the village, breaking cultural taboos and even beating and shaming their men in public. From what I know of Native American culture, the older wives ran the tipi and the younger ones were meek and obedient. The men were not likely to tolerate a disobedient wife, especially one who barges into their sweat lodge and refuses to leave.I was also distracted by the difficult-to-read font used for the non-English words and the accents of the non-American brides. The Swiss lady says "I vill go der yah You kom vid me!" Sometimes the curly font made it almost impossible to detect what was being said.I thought the end of the book was a little rushed too. I wanted to know more about Wren, May's daughter, and about the years on the reservation. I will say that I'm glad the author didn't give us a romance novel happy ending. I was so afraid May was going to run away with the Army officer and live happily ever after. What happened was tragic but more true to our Pioneer history.Overall it wasn't horrible, and I'm glad I read it, but I can't honestly recommend it to anyone who loves books with deep, complex characters or who want their historical fiction to be somewhat realistic. If you want a quick read in the vein of a romance novel, this isn't a bad one.

This book was just SO very wonderful. It is sort of an alternate history...a 'what if'... Fact, a Cheyenne chief in 1854, requested that the U.S. present the tribe with 1000 white women to be brides. Since Cheyenne children belong to the mother's tribe, this would enable children of the Cheyenne to become part of the White Man's world. The conference when this idea was present fell apart and NO wives were sent. But what if?Women in that time in had little way to be independent Without a husband or family to support them... not much of a life. What if the proposal was secretly accepted and the gov't asked, secretly, for volunteers?Now the story with characters so real, so rich, begins.The main character, May Dodd, was one of the volunteers and kept a journal. She volunteered to escape life in an insane asylum...as did others. Many women were sent to asylums for reasons hard... nearly impossible... to believe today. Others were widows, former slaves, prisoners, adventure seekers, poor. Each one became totally, real to me - and I could not help but love each of them. I am stunned by Jim Fergus' ability to create so many women, each so very different from eachother, each so complete and detailed. Without effort, I came to know each of the women.Then, on their travels, I saw the country in the 1860s and met soldiers, women passing as men, good and bad people, and saw the casual shooting of the 'endless' buffalo and other animals. Finally, they and I met the Cheyenne. I learned how they lived. Their lifestyle was described with rich detail - not as a 'noble savage' picture or as 'evil savage' - but as a complete way of life. With the women, I was able to grow in understanding - sometimes approval - sometimes anger.Fergus tells the story of the wives, the husbands, love, sex, religion, danger, and politics. The discovery of gold in the Black Hills - land that the Cheyenne and other tribes had been promised would belong to them forever - changes everything.Despite Jim Fergus making it clear that "One Thousand White Women" is a work of fiction - but the characters - they will become 100% real to you. They certainly did to me.

I expected to really like this book, but I couldn't. It didn't work as historical fiction because there are too many inconsistencies and inaccuracies. Much of what happens is ridiculous. May's language and thoughts are very modern; it feels like the author is mocking what some might call "politically correct" ideas and actions; the women are smarter, more powerful, stronger than the men. Euphemia, a gorgeous black woman, gets away with not doing chores, just because she asserts her freedom of choice. The native men have groups like the Savage Men's Bathing Club and Crazy Dog Warrior Society. There are clearly funny moments in the book, and I think the author is laughing all the way to the bank with this book that was written expressly for women's book groups.

Couldn't finish it. Stereotypical native Americans, women characters were poorly expressed, acted like 21 century women in a 19th century world. Ridiculous premise made worse by poor writing.

I used this text in a graduate logistics class, and while clearly written and suitable for beginners, it is also excellent for more advanced students. The eighth edition is very current with discussions of topics like JIT, JIT II, and early RFID technology (although much has happened in the last year in RFID, already making the text somewhat dated in that regard.) I found that the case studies were well written and the real world examples cited in the book were well conceived to illustrate the intended points. Learning goals and reviews were useful, and while I did not use all of the reviews, the ones I did use assisted my comprehension of the material.This book is great for an aspiring logistician or someone already in the workforce as a logistics or supply chain professional. This is definitely one of the best texts I have been exposed to in my graduate business classes, and I firmly believe that it would be equally useful in an upper level undergraduate class as well. I deducted one star not for any shortcoming of the book per se, but because of the outrageous price, which is, of course no fault of the author.

Pretty bare bones logistics book, dated info and nothing really of use to the reader aside from the stuff you'd expect.

A classical on the Logistics topic, the 9th Edition is by far better than the 10th.

You learn the basics from it. You have to do more digging if you want to learn more about a topic.

I bought the book like new and it was. Great price for a required textbook.

At first I thought that I would be irritated by the 'graphic novel' style, but I think it works very effectively, especially to get over some pretty subtle points. I very much liked the graphic means of storytelling. Storytelling makes an emotional appeal to grab the reader and Mission in a Bottle does that even more effectively than would have been the case had Seth and Barry used a classic business book approach. I particularly enjoyed the way they described the turning down of the offer from Nestlé and the acceptance of the one from Coke. It displayed the company's strategy in a way that is not 'fluff', the term of disapprobation used by Richard Rumelt (Good Strategy Bad Strategy: The Difference and Why It Matters) for so many weak strategy statements.Entrepreneurship students (I teach both entrepreneurship and strategy on an MBA program) would do well to read this book very carefully, as much for what the authors do not say about the entrepreneurial adventure. I told Barry that i was likely to use the book as a set text on my course next year. So I must have liked it a lot.There are so many theories of entrepreneurship and for every one there are examples of its disproof, While I do make some general statements about what works, each case is different. That's what makes Mission in a Bottle so appealing, because the reader can draw on very specific case material, and realize that, for example, the issues in soft drink distribution do not apply in other sectors, but the 'moral' of the story can still be drawn.I wish I had read Mission in a Bottle before I wrote my ebook, Telling StartUp Stories: Keep the End in Mind, since Mission in a Bottle is one of the best examples of startup storytelling I have ever encountered.

Very enlightening. I found myself empathizing with the authors, appreciating their efforts and their mission to change the world through a small drink business. Proving that consumers care about quality. While reading I was learning from their mistakes and mentally taking notes about their strengths and ideals.I found the graphic novel format to be a much more approachable format to tell their story. The art was well-done, and used to enhance the story with visuals, but not in any way distracting. This is not the type of book I normally read, but due to its uniqueness compared to other business books, I was intrigued. This book has helped me understand the day-to-day struggles of being an entrepreneur, and about the rewards for the ones who can overcome them.Highly recommend it for upcoming entrepreneurs and young, impressionable minds who enjoy graphic novels. I believe the best way to get a child to read this, is to read it in front of them, and let their curiosity get the best of them.

I learned so much from reading this, not just about Honest Tea's inspiring history, but also about the business of start-ups. Don't let the graphic format fool you: while this is indeed a very fun read, it's a business book and a very insightful one at that. Highly recommend.

As other reviewers have noted, the Kindle Editon is unreadable due to the complete lack of formatting.The book is written in graphic novel form, and the text is too small to read. On my iPhone, the book is completely unreadable. On my kindle, you are able to enlarge the image panels by double tapping them, however the smaller text is still too small to read.I managed to slog through half the book, skipping over most of the text and mostly just looking at the pictures. The only thing I have to show for the experience is sore eyes. Complete waste of time.

in the late 90's I lived a few blocks from the Honest Tea offices. At the time they were just a small local company struggling to carve out a niche against giant brands like Snapple.Fast forward to 2014 and they are now owned by Coca-Cola, but still focused on being a company for change- organic teas, fair trade labor standards, and a culture that promotes doing the right thing along with being profitable. They didn't shortchange their values for a quick dollar.What the authors manage to do is tell that story in an amazingly enjoyable way. Yes, there are struggles, mistakes, moments when the future of the company is on the brink. But it's told in such a way that it becomes a page turning 'mystery' instead of a dry, dull business book.The graphic novel format the authors chose makes it even more enjoyable to read and the graphics are beautiful and only add to the story.Don't be fooled by the beautiful artwork- this is a real business book with hard learned lessons, failures, successes, tough choices and everything that makes a great business success story.If you're not familiar with the Honest Tea line of products- find some. If you're not familiar with the decade long story of 'the little tea company that could'- read this book and enjoy.

This is an interesting little animated book about iced tea. I read it as part of a business course. I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging it was, even if it did feel a little forced at times.

I loved this book. Completely different than any other business book. Written mostly in a graphical novel (comic book) format, but don't be alarmed, this really works. And the writing style and message are both terrific. Two thumbs up.

Can't put this book down! I have taken so many notes and started marking it up for ideas. If you are serious about creating a start up and especially in the food and beverage industry, this book is a must read.

A really fun read, appropriate for all ages because I believe there is something in this book that will resonate with just about anyone. The author shares painful stories with wit and good humor. There were a number of laugh-out-loud moments for me. However, the lessons in the book are quite serious. It was a hard book to put down.

Good book. Great story! Fun to read. Insightful. Purchased it for my teen as required summer reading. Double bang for the buck as whether your a teen or beyond, it's a good read!

This book is marked as an "Amazon Best Seller!" It's the #1 best selling book on Amazon in its category, which is "Books > Teens > Personal Health > Physical Impairments." I don't know how many books there ARE in that category, but I'm guessing not a lot. And that really explains what I liked and didn't like about this book.This young man survived a horrifying bout of childhood cancer which resulted in one of his legs being amputated at the hip. As he explains, this is a severe physical impairment because no prosthetic device ever invented can replace the actions of three joints. Eventually the problem solved itself because his body rejected the prosthesis and he's now limited to crutches.I think the author intended his story to be both entertaining and educational and I think he succeeds. This book forces the reader to examine America's strange attitude toward the physically handicapped. On the one hand, we don't see being physically handicapped as a GOOD thing. We certainly wouldn't want to be physically handicapped ourselves or for any of our loved ones to be physically handicapped. On the other hand, we don't want to look shallow and unsympathetic.We compromise by elevating the handicapped to the status of semi-sainthood. A handicapped person is automatically a "hero" because he/she has a handicap and keeps going. (Like they have a choice?) We like to hear from the handicapped and we like to pat them on the back because it makes us feel good about ourselves. We love that we don't have to feel sorry for them because they're brave and unselfish and plucky and all the stuff that the rest of us aren't and don't want to be. Attending their motivational speeches and cheering loudly solves the problem of our ambivalent attitudes toward the "differently-abled." Then we can forget about them. We're off the hook.This intelligent, articulate young man keeps making the point that the loss of a limb doesn't really make you fundamentally any different from everyone else. And he's absolutely correct and his approach to women proves it. His love life (or lack of one) has little to do with his missing leg and everything to do with being raised by two loving, earnest, well-meaning people whose child-rearing methods left him ill-equipped to function in the modern world. In a culture where youngsters hook-up and hope that sex will lead to romance, he's feeling guilty for THINKING about kissing a girl. He's looking for a 1950's girl and he's 60 years too late.This book is quirky and some shy teens may relate to his stories of awkward attempts to find romance. Most of his stories are run-of-the-mill tales of growing up. However, the story about the time when the foot of his prosthesis turned backwards was unique. I have to admit, I never read anything quite like that one before. And he tells his stories very well.The take-away lesson is: Stop burdening this man by expecting him to be a super-hero. Stop gushing because he made a speech with jokes and he only has ONE LEG! Stop being amazed because he wrote a book and he only has ONE LEG! Do you see how silly you sound?He's a normal, shallow, self-centered young guy and he wants what every other normal, shallow, self-centered young guy wants - a babe. That's what he goes after and he's not settling for less. Hence his reaction to "Stella the Stalker."Finally a girl is interested in him. Maybe a bit TOO interested, but interested. And he tells her to get lost. He freely admits that Stella's sin is not that she's weird, but that she's ugly. If she had been one of the hot babes he covets, her stalking would have been delightful.Finally he meets a beauty queen who was also home-schooled and they walk off into the sunset. Stella wasn't his problem and I'm not unreasonable enough to think he could have made a huge difference in her life. He could have shown her some kindness, but maybe that's expecting too much of a young man. Anyway, he didn't.Just because something extraordinary (good or bad) has happened to you doesn't mean that you become an extraordinary person. You have to do that yourself. Maybe the author and his beauty queen girlfriend will marry. Maybe one of their children will be a Stella. Maybe loving an imperfect child and advocating for her and hurting when she hurts will turn him into the hero that his audiences want to believe he is now.This is a teen book and a teen would react to it far differently than I did. Still, I'm glad I read it. I didn't fall in love with the guy, but he made me think.

Self-deprecating and honest, yet giggle-out-loud (embarrassingly, at a coffee shop, in front of other people) funny, this is a very relatable book addressing the perils of dating. I highly recommend it.
